McCandless Consulting LLC ("we," "us," "our") operates mccandlessconsulting.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
Information you give us
- Newsletter signup (homepage and blog): first name, last name, email address.
- Data maturity quiz (/quiz): name, email address, and your answers to the ten assessment questions.
- Direct contact: anything you include when you email us or book a call.
We only collect this when you submit it. Nothing on this site requires you to create an account.
Information collected automatically
We use PostHog, a product analytics service, to understand how people use this site — pages visited, links clicked, browser and device type, and approximate location derived from IP address. Our host, Webflow, also keeps standard server logs.
Cookies
This site sets cookies for two purposes: functional cookies from Webflow that make the site work, and analytics cookies from PostHog that let us measure usage. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though some things may behave oddly.
Third parties
Some services receive your information as part of delivering this site:
- Webflow — hosting and form submissions
- PostHog — product analytics
- Calendly — if you book a call
- Substack — if you subscribe to the newsletter there
- Loom and Vidzflow — embedded video
- Google Fonts, Cloudflare, and jsDelivr — fonts, scripts, and other assets
Each has its own privacy policy governing what it does with that data.
How we use your information
To reply to you, to send you the newsletter you asked for, to deliver your quiz results, and to understand which parts of the site are useful. That's it.
What we don't do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not send you marketing you didn't ask for.
How long we keep it
Contact and newsletter information is kept until you ask us to delete it or unsubscribe. Quiz responses are kept for as long as they're useful for improving the assessment. Analytics data is retained on PostHog's standard schedule.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from any email we send using the link in that email. You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — email dwm@mccandlessconsulting.com and we'll handle it. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA; we'll honor those requests regardless of where you are.
Children
This site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Security
We use reputable service providers and take reasonable measures to protect the information you give us. No website can promise perfect security, and we won't pretend otherwise.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the effective date above. Material changes will be noted on this page.
